Author: This video was filmed before the Kobalt Tools 500 at a Sprint booth. The car was started up and ran for roughly 2 and a half minutes. It was real loud and it smelled amazing.
Some footage from the 1963 Riverside 500 Nascar Grand National Series(as it was known back then)race at Riverside International Raceway in California. The race was sponsored by Motor Trend Magazine and was a grueling 500 miles long! The track operated from 1957 until 1989 when the property was sold by former Los Angeles Rams player Les Richter. The final Nascar race was held there in 1988 and Rusty Wallace was the victor. It was one of the best road courses of all-time and certainly my favourite that Nascar ran on. 
If a driver has the flu or any other illness, he most likely will be on medication. A lot of meds cautions against driving. Nascar is so strict about rules, maybe they should check on the driver’s health and medication before he is allowed on the tract. It could be dangerous for the other drivers.

NASCAR MEXICO driver Carlos Pardo was leading the race on the 97th lap when his car was nudged by a competitor from behind and slid sideways into a wall at the entrance to the pit lane at about 120 mph Sunday. The car disintegrated as a result of the impact. Pardo was removed from the wreckage and sent by helicopter to a hospital. The NASCAR Mexico Web site reported that he died 45 minutes later. Pardo was later declared winner of the race in Pueblo, east of Mexico City. He won the series championship in 2004 and had 10 career victories in 74 races. Pardo made one Nationwide start in the 2006 telcel Motorola 200 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. He started 35th and finished 42nd after radiator problems knocked him out of the race. Pardo also made six Camping World East starts, twice finishing 11th.
